The city of Bryansk (Russia) hosted the CIS Ship Modeling Sport Cup (speed cord models) from August 24 to August 28, 2023. The competition organizers included: Ministry of Sport of Russia, Department of Physical Culture and Sport of Bryansk Region, DOSAAF Regional Branch in Bryansk Region, Federation of Ship Modeling Sport of Russia; besides, the Technical Creativity Center of Bryansk Region actively contributed to the event…
The competitors met at lake Chertovitsa water area, which is located in the vicinity of the Artillerists’ Memorial (Sovetskiy District, Bryansk). Bryansk was chosen as a competition venue for a very good reason: the city prides itself on being one of ship modeling sport hubs in Russia, especially for cord classes.
The best competitors from Alania, Tajikistan and Russia participated in the CIS Cup-2023. The Russian Federation was represented by modelers from Moscow and Moscow Region, Kaluga, Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk and, of course, Bryansk. Both senior and high school competitors came to defend the “sporting honor” of their home city.
Among the most prominent and experienced competitors was Rashid Khabibulin from Kaluga (World and Europe Champion), Dmitriy Dolgikh from Chelyabinsk (Chairman of Federation of Ship Modeling Sport of Chelyabinsk Region, Russia’s Master of Sport of International Class), Alexander Muravyov (prize-winner at several World Championships, Russia’s Master of Sport of International Class).
The racers brought several types of cord ship models to the CIS Cup. Thus, starts in A/B Classes included speed “bolides” fitted with IC engines whose capacity ranged from 2.5 cubic cm to 10 cubic cm. Cord models with electric engines were represented by two classes: A1-E (with a water propeller) and B1-E (with an air propeller).
To achieve the best possible result, each competitor could use 5 attempts. Two attempts (runs) were on 25 August 2023, the following day saw two more runs and 27 August 2023 was the day for the fifth and final attempt.
As for the winners, in cord classes of models with ICE, gold went to the following modelers: A1 Class - Rashid Khabibulin (Kaluga, Russia), A2 Class – Vladislav Ushenin (Kaluga Region, Russia), A3 Class -–Nikita Shepel (Bryansk, Russia); B1 Class – Alexey Malafeevskiy (Chelyabinsk Region, Russia). Dmitriy Dolgikh and Alexander Muravyov (Chelyabinsk, Russia) showed the best result in cord classes of models with electric engines.
